Hi my lovely Reading Ninjas, we're into a new year of reading and I've been holding out to share this must-read for months now, waiting for its release... And here it is
DEADLY RISK (Prey Security Alpha Team #1)
by Jane Blythe
Jane was nice enough to share an ARC with me just so I could share it with all of you my Reading Ninjas. This is the first in her new Prey Security Alpha Team series and if the rest of this series is like this book - well we're in for some action and passion filled reading.
Mackenzie always knew her brother was a psychopath, but when he kidnaps her and throws her in a hole (yes a literal hole) she also knows she'll never be safe. Enter (again literally) Bear, tough, strong, brooding alpha team leader who gets more than he expected when he's tracking a terrorist. He finds a terrified woman in a hole. And he's not happy about it.
Mackenzie understands that she's a burden on her broody hero but by his side is the only place she's ever felt safe. She knows she's small and weak but damned if she's going to give in to her brother, or even slow her pissed-off rescuer down. There's something about him she's drawn to. And there's something about her that Bear can't resist - no matter how much he tries.
Throw in rescue after rescue, and Mackenzie knows she's not good enough for Bear, she's too needy, weak and afraid of the things that go bump in the night. Bear just can't stay away, despite knowing he's the almost worst thing for Mackenzie (2nd only to her brother), he can't love, can't trust. He's damaged, physically, mentally and absolutely emotionally - she deserves so much more than he can offer... But he wants her all the same.
This book is full of steamy need, moments interrupted by terrorism and so much action. The alpha team boys are all so very different and are more than happy to take Mackenzie under their protection and kick Bear's ass all while hunting her brother. Let me tell you Reading Ninjas; I can't wait to read more in this series. If you like cranky alpha males, ex-army badasses and lots of passion and heat - then Deadly Risk is definitely worth taking the risk.

The last thing he wants is to fall for her.
Mackenzie Arden knows she'll never be free of her brother's violent obsession with her, and now she's his prisoner and an unwitting pawn in his plot. When she’s rescued by a man who is as intriguing as he is intimidating, she finally starts to feel safe for the first time in her life, only he wants nothing to do with her.
Luca “Bear” Jackson has been betrayed too many times to put his trust in anyone. Especially a woman who might be embroiled in her brother’s terrorist plot. Try as he might to stop it from happening Mackenzie manages to make him feel things he has no interest in feeling.
But the danger isn’t over and if Bear can't set aside his fears of being hurt again Mackenzie will pay the ultimate price.
