Bookshop girls have all the luck.
Hi Reading Ninjas, I'm sorry I've been quiet the past few weeks... I've been dealing with real and author life. The Jakki Frances in me headed to Brisbane 2 weeks ago to attend the Australian Romance Readers signing and had an absolute blast. I love meeting other authors and of course readers - We are all one big, dysfunctional tribe who truely understand each other. Dinner after the event was such a great time simply chatting books and how they effect our lives and the world in general.
Do not fear - I may have been a little MIA when it comes to sharing with you but that does not mean there has been a lack of fabbo reads in my life and today I'm going to introduce on to you. A little gem I picked up at ARR Brissy...
The Bookshop Girl and the Billionaire
by Jennie Kew
This is the start of her new Brisbane Batchelor series and I'm telling you, I hope all the bachelors are like Luke. While he seems, and realistically IS, a complete douche - he's also a douche with a heart of gold.
Claire has a past she's trying to recover from, clawing her way through life one day, one dollar at a time, while attempting to hold her head high and her heart in check. She's learnt the hard way that she's not the kind of girl men want for anything other than as a means to an end - after all, it's know what you know but who you know... right?
When Luke gets it in his head to use Claire to exact revenge on an enemy, he plays hardball and blackmails her into helping... Claire knows he's a jerk even before he threatens her bookshop, after all, he showed her his true colours ten years ago on the day they first met. He's a jerk, but he's a sex god level jerk who's very presence makes her burn with rage and lust. But she's definately NOT his type - after all, he only dates skinny, blonde model types and that's absolutely not her.
Luke need to exact his revenge, his sisters revenge and he'll do anything to achieve it - even if it means hurting the one woman in the world he has ever wanted.
I'm telling you Reading Ninjas - I spent the entire book both cursing and cheering Luke and Claire on. They're both screwed up and working together against a common foe might just make or break them. This new release from Jennie Kew is fantastic and you know how much I love to share Aussie authors. I cannot wait to read and share more of this series with you.
Luke Hardcastle has a reputation for being a good guy. Honestly. He takes nice to a whole new level. But no one hurts his little sister and gets away with it. Especially not his most hated enemy.
Finally the time has arrived for Luke to exact his revenge. All of his pieces in place—except one. To take his enemy down he’ll need the help of her niece, Claire Morse, the shy, curvy beauty he’s fantasised about for years. But she’s not the girl she used to be. To ensure her cooperation, Luke holds the lease to her bookshop over her head. And should her cooperation also involve pretending to be his girlfriend and participating in some very public displays of affection… perfect.
But the more he learns about the real Claire, the harder it is to keep his head in the game and his heart under wraps. Torn between the two, can Luke get the girl and his revenge, or will he have to sacrifice one to keep the other?
