MERRY BOOKMAS TO ALL

Merry bookmas Reading Ninjas, I hope you're all having a fun Xmas with lots of books, and bookstore gift cards filling your stockings.

It's a quiet Xmas night here in outback Australia, which is good since Xmas eve was quite eventful for this little ninja. So last night, I headed upstairs with a great book I received for Xmas this year - The School For Good & Evil, all set to read late into the night. Seeing as how it's mid-summer in the desert, it's still sweltering late into the night and most nights I lock my security screen door and leave the actual back door open to let in some breeze... Well Xmas eve, I learnt not to do that. While I happily read upstairs, my house was broken into and my brand new (4 days old) car, together with my purse and house keys, were stolen. I actually watched my new baby reverse out of my driveway. I was so involved in the book I didn't even hear someone in my house... Good news, I spent Xmas morning at the police station completing statements and collecting my car as the thief was caught very quickly by the wonderful boys in blue.

Lessons learned - 1). NEVER leave the door open, no matter how hot and despite the security screen being locked. 2) Take car keys, purse and anything else of value upstairs at night with me. 3). Always keep an ear out even when deeply into an alternate world.

So a quiet Xmas day full of naps and reading was needed. Now onto some fab Xmas news; after many months of wait, hype and anticipation

Sophie Stern's THE VAMPIRE'S MELODY

was released on Xmas eve! YAY!!! So, after making great headway with my current read today, I'll be diving into the forest and this coven I've been waiting to meet for so long. I don't know if you've all been waiting for this book with as much anticipation as I have, but it's nearly killed me to wait until Xmas eve. OMG Sophie, talk about torture!!! I can't wait to dive in tomorrow and will be sure to update you all as to my thoughts once I'm done.

Every vampire must sing its song...

I'm just walking through an abandoned house, minding my own business, when - wham! - I'm no longer alone. Instead, I'm thrust into a world I know nothing about, a world I'm not ready for, and a world filled with real, live vampires. Well, I'm not sure that they're alive, but you know what I mean.

The people who live here in this house - the vamps - are older than me. They're more experienced than me. They're...broodier than me.

They also know that when this adventure is over, I'm going to have to make a very hard choice, and I'm just not sure that I'm ready.

What's everyone reading for the holidays? I'm always looking for newbies to add to my TBR - I want recommendations from you I can share with everyone else; so hit me with your current book obsessions and let's see who else is onboard with your guilty pleasures.

MERRY BOOKMAS READING NINJAS - don't forget to lock your doors cause Santa isn't the only one breaking in over the holidays.
