OMG Reading Ninjas, I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of the most wonderfully heartbreaking story I've ever read. Word to the wise, you're going to want to carve yourself out some alone time for this book...
28 DAYS. - by Aleisha Maree & Susan Horsnell
This is the story of Ziggy's final 28 days on earth. She knows that's her time limit, she's not happy about it, but she's ready all the same... Until she meets Branson.
This is the story of Branson and the mere 28 days he shares with the love of his life. He's angry and he's determined to save her. They will have more time...
Trust me Reading Ninjas, this book will hurt. I made the mistake of reading on an international flight, and I cried from the first sentence to the last. Now, I'm not talking quiet tears subtlely trickling on my cheeks - I'm talking steams, can barely see through the tears, snot and fighting not to sob aloud. The. Entire. Book. (Sorry to the poor unsuspecting man who sat beside me on the LA - Brisbane flight).
This book is so wonderful. It's hard to write life and death in a way that's realistic, heartfelt, respectful and true, and these authors have done it. While the book was extremely emotionally painful to read, no matter how many times I put it down to try and compose myself - I was driven to pick it up again before my tears dried. I had to power through to the end with Ziggy and Branson. Their pain was my pain. Their love was my love. Their end was my end, and my heart will never be the same because of them.
Let me warn you - if you've lost someone close to you recently, you should probably avoid this one for a bit but at the same time, Ziggy is such a wonderfully mature and loving character who embraces both her life and death in a beautiful way. So grab the tissues, lock yourself in your home, take to your bed and prepare to be destroyed in an amazing way.
28 Days...
It was all I had left.
We had run out of options, there was nothing more to be done.
28 Misery filled days.
28 Days of hell on earth.
Until....
Branson, a driver for the Reapers Reign motorcycle club, crashed into my life and tilted my world off its axis.
He turned the rest of my life;
Everything...
Into something it should never have been.
