She needs a good spanking!

Hi Reading Ninjas, I have someone new to me to share this week... Tara Conrad. Now I like reading my good, faithful authors as much as the next book dork, but I also really love finding someone new to enjoy. And Tara found me, right here in this blog and told me about her latest release:

SUBMITTING TO HIM

Well, with a title like that, I just had to give it a read. After all, this Reading Ninja just loves a little (LOT) of spice and a good BDSM book just puts me in the right headspace for a pleasant week. And with it being Book 1 in a series - well, you know how I love to get obsessed and read my way through entire series in one, BIG, book slothy weekend... ALAS, books 4&5 aren't out yet, but that hasn't stopped me from pre-ordering so I'm ready to submit when they are.

Anyway, back to the book - For me, the measure of a good book is always how much I end up invested in the characters' lives. Do they suck me in? Are they real? And by this standard - this book is a winner... But in an unexpected way.

I enjoyed the story, it's hot and invites you into the characters' lives as well as the kink club they are involved with. But most importantly, for me, I found myself quite honestly really disliking Natalie. I found her winey, spineless, lacking any sort of self-respect and in need of a good spanking. It's one thing to respect your parents, it's another to allow them to take over your life, and not only put you in danger, but encourage assault and abuse. She needed to get herself a backbone, walk away and live in a tent in the woods if that's what was needed to have a life of her own. Self-respect is worth more than a bedroom close to work when it comes with a side of abusive ex-boyfriend.

So in that, this story is a winner. It's rare that a book invokes such a strong emotional response from this Reading Ninja... I have to remember that bitch slapping the shit out of fictional characters does none of us any good. I guess that like Bella in Twilight, there will be a portion of readers who like her and a portion who really find her pathetic.

Want to see if you like or dislike Natalie? Read what I can happily say is a great book (despite the sooky bitch) and drop me a comment - do you like her or want to slap the stupid out of her? Curious Ninjas want to know

An act of betrayal, a call to 911, and a note from the brother she lost give Natalie the courage to embark on a journey of self-exploration.

Unknowingly set up by their friends, Alex and Natalie spend the evening together at New York City’s Fire and Ice BDSM club.

Neither one is looking for love, but their chemistry is too strong to ignore.

They agree to a Dom/sub contract with an expiration date—the insurance policy both believe will keep their hearts safe.

Distance makes the heart grow fonder, or so they say.

Forces outside their control seek to pull them apart, but they find their way back to one another.

The couple’s connection is stronger than ever until tragedy strikes Natalie’s family

Mistakes are made. Words that can’t be taken back are uttered.

Sometimes it takes the love of friends to pick up the pieces.

Can two broken souls find their way back to one another?

PS: READING NINJAS... I LIKED IT SO MUCH I'M GOING TO HAVE TO DOWNLOAD MORE IN THE SERIES - SO WATCH THIS SPACE OR CLICK TO ENJOY THEM YOURSELF...
