Hi Reading Ninjas, I'm back on the creepy, what the hell, book bandwagon this week and it was a fantastically warped discovery. So at the start of July, I got my usual monthly Amazon Prime First Reads email and, to be honest - there wasn't anything that really floated my boat... So I claimed the book that kinda sounded interesting

YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL TONIGHT by L.R.Jones

Holy crap, Reading Ninjas; am I glad that nothing else piqued my interest because this book was creepy and fun and engaging and had me second and third-guessing everything I'd read with each new chapter.

Mia is the stereotypical mousy, invisible librarian; and she likes her life that way... Except when she doesn't. With her duo of sidekicks, her bestie who is vivacious and talented and has never been invisible a moment in her life and her library partner in crime who is just as withdrawn and invisible as she is, she attempts to live a life where she remains unseen and yet is no longer overlooked... Until the day she received a simple note - You look beautiful tonight.

And thus begins a creepy, warped and ultimately dangerous chapter in her life. Suddenly Mia is no longer invisible - in fact, a hunky stranger wants to get to know her and find a place in her life. Her boss is pushing her to step up and into the library limelight and her besties are both encouraging her (in their own ways) to get out and live a life seen.

As her life begins to bloom, it simultaneously spirals out of control in the most dangerous ways as more notes appear, gifts arrive on her doorstep and the man she thought she could trust begins to make her spidey senses tingle and her creep factor crawl.

As I read this, I thought I had the whole story susses, and then with another turn of the page, my opinion changed and changed again. I had totally worked out the entire thing a dozen times before the end and even as the climax was laid out before me - I both realised I knew it all along and yet I knew nothing at all.

If you're into thrillers, who-done-its and generally creepy, kooky books full of twists turns and WTF moments - you're going to love this one. Settle in for a good weekend read and decide for yourself; is it better to be seen by the world or not?

A secret admirer’s devotion turns deadly in a twisting novel of psychological suspense. Mia Anderson is an invisible woman. An unremarkable thirty-two-year-old Tennessee librarian, she’s accustomed to disappearing in a crowd, unseen and unheard. Then she receives an anonymous note: You look beautiful today. It doesn’t stop there. The attentive stranger―a secret admirer named Adam―has plans for Mia. With each new text comes a suggestion for her hair, clothes, or attitude, and for the first time in memory, Mia feels noticed. Slowly, she develops a confidence in herself she’s never had. But Adam has a surprise coming…and Mia finally sees him for who he is and what he’s prepared to do for her. Even kill. Fearing she could be implicated in the murder, Mia’s forced to turn to the stranger in the shadows watching her every move. Adam’s game of cat and mouse begins with Mia as the prey. In order to survive, she must also become the predator.
